The birth and structuring of Turkish software industry This study analyzes the emergence and structuring process as well as main structural features of Turkey software industry. The study is based on research conducted through surveys and interviews in Turkish software industry. It explains the relatively late birth and structuring period of the Turkish software industry in comparison to other countries. It indicates the inward-oriemed nature of Turkish software industry development. The study analyzes also the main features of software companies such as firm size, certification, the activity pattern and market profile. Survey results show that the most widespread activities of software firms are services oriented; the "quality and standard certification" level of Turkish software firms are low; the relationship between the software industry and the industrial production and distribution activities of the economy is evolving.
