Özet

This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the critical factors influencing energy efficiency in container ships within the framework of global logistics and to investigate their direct effects on the thermal heat balance of marine propulsion systems. As international supply chains face mounting economic pressures and stringent environmental regulations, optimizing shipboard energy management is vital for sustainable maritime operations.

The research evaluates key variables such as vessel operating speed, engine load profiles, technical specifications of two-stroke diesel engines, and environmental constraints—through an operational logistics analysis. Furthermore, mathematical modeling of the main engine energy distribution including fuel input, exhaust gas losses, jacket cooling water thermal losses, and useful mechanical work is conducted to determine the correlation between logistical operational choices and deviations in engine heat balance.

The assessment reveals that operational adjustments driven by global logistics strategies, such as slow steaming and just-in-time navigation, significantly alter the internal thermal balance and heat rejection rates of container ship main engines. Variations in engine load directly impact exhaust gas and waste heat recovery potentials, demonstrating the need to balance operational efficiency against internal losses to prevent performance degradation and excessive thermal stress.

This study bridges the gap between macroeconomic global logistics requirements and micro-level marine engineering thermodynamics. By integrating fleet-level operational constraints with detailed heat balance assessments, the research offers a holistic decision-making framework for shipowners and maritime operators aiming to optimize energy performance without compromising supply chain reliability.
