Automated Vertical Farms are just one example. Global vertical farming was valued nearly USD 1.9 billion at 2018. In this paper, we will conduct a case study for Istanbul, where cultivable land is scarce, so local production is limited and demand for leafy greens depends on imports from other parts of Turkey. We will examine the profitability of automated vertical farming considering investment costs, operational and sales income. However, the expenditures and incomes are not stable because of the inflation rate. Therefore, to overcome these problems we use fuzzy logic, the expected inflation rates, which is given in probabilities, is taken from market participants survey made by Turkish Central Bank. We use inflation rate as a trapezoidal fuzzy number and get fuzzy result. The results show that because of high investment and operating costs, investing vertical farms are more profitable if top quality, high-priced products can be cultivated.
