The first aim of this study is to adapt the Mobile Phone Addiction Survey (MPAS) developed by Hong, Chiu and Huang (2012) into Turkish culture by evaluating the psychometric properties of the survey. For this reason, its factor structure in Turkish culture was examined through conducting confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The second aim of this study is to examine mobile phone addiction among university students in Turkey with respect to gender, age, grade level, and phone use time in a day. The participants of the present study are 242 and 600 undergraduate and graduate university students respectively. The data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results showed enough evidence of validity and reliability. The factor structure of MPAS is similar to the original version, and it can be used with Turkish population. Moreover, it was found that mobile phone addiction scores significantly differ by gender (male/female), age (younger than 22 years old/older than 22 years old), grade level (undergraduate students/graduate students), and phone use time in a day (morning and noon/evening/night/equal during the day) in favour of female students, students who are younger than 22 years old, undergraduate students, and students who use their mobile phones mostly at nights.
