Abstract

Plotinus is a philosopher who is unfortunately underappreciated in Turkish-Islamic cultural history. In fact, we could say his influence has been greater than the prevalence of his name. He undoubtedly made a profound contribution to the formation of Islamic philosophy, but for centuries this contribution was attributed not to Plotinus but to Aristotle. Indeed, a Plotinus often mistaken for Aristotle is often implicated in the laying of the foundations of Islamic philosophy.
