Abstract

In this paper, extremum seeking algorithm is proposed for ABS control of a road vehicle. The algorithm manages to maximize road-tire friction potential by searching the optimum slip ratio on-line. It evaluates the driver steering input information for defining the operating region of the search algorithm, henceforth, in the course of maximizing braking forces, an undesirable decline in lateral tire forces is prevented. Simulation study is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2010 IFAC.
